우리 학회는 2023년 봄 학술대회를 아래와 같이 준비하고 있습니다. 회원 선생님께서 발표와 참여로 함께 해 주시기를 기대합니다.

<2023년 새한영어영문학회 봄 학술대회>

주제: “위기의 지구와 인문학의 자리: 살아가기, 생존하기, 공존하기”(Planetary Crisis and the Role of Humanities: Living, Surviving, Coexisting)

장소: 부경대학교 대연캠퍼스

새한영어영문학회는 “위기의 지구와 인문학의 자리: 살아가기, 생존하기, 공존하기”(Planetary Crisis and the Role of Humanities: Living, Surviving, Coexisting)라는 주제로 2023년도 봄 학술대회를 개최하고자 합니다. 학술대회의 제목은 위기의 지구라고 했지만, 지구는 소행성 충돌이나 생물의 대멸종기 등 지금보다도 훨씬 가혹한 재앙에도 살아남았습니다. 그러므로 위기에 처한 것은 지구가 아니라 인간입니다. 인류는 오랫동안 스스로를 지구의 주인으로 자처하면서 지구가 마치 인간만을 위해서 존재하는 것인 양 간주해왔지만, 이제 지구온난화, 팬데믹 등과 같은 생태 시스템의 혼란은 인류의 생존 자체를 위협하고 있습니다. 이러한 위기의 극복을 위해 세계적 협력과 유대가 필요하지만, 협력보다는 분열을 낳는, 이해관계로 첨예하게 뒤얽힌 진부한 이슈들에 의해 매번 뒤로 밀려납니다. 생태학은 인간이 지구를 위해서 자연을 돌보고 보살펴야 하는 문제가 아니라, 우리의 모두의 삶과 생존, 그리고 공존을 위한 사회의 재구성과 재배치라는 점에서 복잡한 정치적 문제입니다. 이에 새한영어영문학회는 생태학적 위기에 대한 인문학적 접근과 그 역할, 그리고 다가올 미래를 위한 방안을 모색하고자 합니다. 이번 학술대회에 대한 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁드립니다.

l 생태 문학(Ecological Literature, Nature Writing) 기후소설(Cli-Fi), 생태미학(Ecological Aesthetics), 생태적 상상력(Environmental Imagination), 생태학적 SF(Eco-Sci-Fi)

l 환경과 정의(Environmental Justice), 생태 윤리와 책임(Ecology Ethics and Responsibility), 생태학과 정치(Political Ecology), 에코 페미니즘(Eco-Feminism), 생태교육(Ecological Education),

l 기후 위기(Climate Crisis), 기후변화와 회복탄력성(Climate Change and Resilience), 인류세(Anthropocene), 상호부조와 공존(Mutual Aid and Coexistence)

l 생태(Posthumanism and Environment), 테크놀로지와 생태학(Environmental Impact of Technology), 그린 테크놀로지(Green Technologies)

l 기타 일반 주제도 가능합니다.

2. 발표문 제출: 2023년 4월 30일까지 

   (발표문은 영어, 한글 모두 가능, 한글/워드, 파워포인트 슬라이드 등 다양한 형식으로 제출 가능, 

   한글문서로 작성 시 제목: 글자크기 15, 소속(이름): 글자크기 10, 본문: 글자크기 12, 줄 간격: 160, 글자체: 바탕체를 권장함)

2023 Spring Conference of New Korean Society of English Language and Literature

Topic: Planetary Crisis and the Role of Humanities: Living, Surviving, Coexisting

The New Korean Society of English Language and Literature is pleased to announce its upcoming Spring Conference in 2023, which will explore the theme of "Planetary Crisis and the Role of Humanities: Living, Surviving, Coexisting." While the conference title implies a global crisis, the crisis we currently face is not just planetary, but rather a crisis of humanity. It's essential to acknowledge that the Earth has already endured severe catastrophes in the past, such as asteroid crashes and mass extinctions. The current crisis primarily affects humanity, not the Earth itself. As a species, we have played a dominant role on this planet, exploiting it for our benefit and ignoring the consequences of our actions.. However, disturbances to ecosystems, such as global warming and pandemics, now pose a significant threat to our very existence. Despite the urgency and importance of ecological issues, they are often dismissed in favor of trivial concerns, resulting in disputes between groups that prioritize their interests over global cooperation. Ecology encompasses more than just humans taking care of the Earth; it is a complex political issue that requires society's reconfiguration for living, surviving, and coexisting. Only by acknowledging the political nature of ecology can we develop effective solutions to the current crisis and secure a better future for ourselves and the planet. The New Korean Society of English Language and Literature, thus, aims to explore various approaches to the ecological crisis we face and how they can play a role in shaping a sustainable future for us all.

The conference will cover a broad range of topics, including deconstruction and ecological thought, ecological literature, nature writing, climate fiction, ecological aesthetics, ecological imagination, and eco-sci-fi. Additionally, we will address significant issues such as environmental justice, ecology ethics and responsibility, eco-feminism, ecological education, climate crisis, climate change and resilience, Anthropocene, mutual aid and coexistence, posthumanism, and the environment, the environmental impact of technology, green technologies, and other topics.
