<2024년 새한영어영문학회 봄 학술대회>

주제: “폭력과 혐오의 시대의 인류와 대항 서사”(Humanity and Counter Narrative in the Age of Violence and Hatred)

기조연설: “아시아계 미국 비평가들이 본 한국전쟁” / 이석구 교수(연세대)

새한영어영문학회는 “폭력과 혐오의 시대의 인류와 대항 서사”(Humanity and Counter Narrative in the Age of Violence and Hatred)라는 주제로 2024년도 봄 학술대회를 개최하고자 합니다. 지구 어디에서 전쟁과 폭력이 없던 때가 없었지만 디지털 시대에 이보다 생생하게 그 참혹하고 야만적인 혐오와 차별을 일상에서 기록하고 목격하는 시대는 없었습니다. 인류는 항상 위기에 처했으며 희망과 좌절을 언어로 재현하고 형상화해왔습니다. 생명정치에서 다시 양복 입은 야만인들이 맨주먹을 휘두르는 죽음의 정치 사이를 오가면서 인류는 쇠퇴와 발전의 모습을 번갈아 보이고 있습니다. 그 어느 때보다 극단적 대립이 휘몰아치는 이때 그 대안과 희망을 찾아보려는 노력이 절실히 필요합니다. 이에 새한영어영문학회는 전쟁, 폭력, 혐오, 배제, 추방 등을 넘어서는 인문학적 접근과 그 대항 서사들을 모색하고자 합니다. 이번 학술대회에 대한 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁드립니다.

Topic: Humanity and Counter Narrative in the Age of Violence and Hatred

Where: College of Maritime Humanities & Social Sciences, Korea Maritime & Ocean University

The New Korean Association of English Language and Literature plans to host its 2024 spring conference entitled "Humanity and Counter Narrative in the Age of Violence and Hatred." There has never been a time on Earth devoid of war and violence, but in the digital age the appalling and barbaric hatred and discrimination have never been more vividly witnessed and recorded in our everyday life. Humanity has always faced crises, and hope and despair have been configured and represented in a verbal manner. Oscillating between bio-politics and the politics of death where savages in suits wield naked fists, humanity alternates between decline and progress. At this time of extreme polarization, there is an urgent need to seek alternatives and hope. Therefore, the New Korean Association of English Language and Literature aims to explore humanistic approaches and counter narratives that transcend war, violence, hatred, exclusion, and expulsion. We kindly request your keen interest and participation in this academic conference.

2. 발표문 제출: 2024년 4월 30일까지

(발표문은 1-2쪽 분량으로 영어 또는 한글로 작성, 한글 또는 워드 형식으로 제출 가능, 한글문서로 작성 시 제목: 글자크기 15, 소속(이름): 글자크기 10, 본문: 글자크기 12, 줄 간격: 160, 글자체: 바탕체를 권장함)
