절기가 바뀌고 서늘한 가을 바람이 불어오는 요즘입니다. 건강하게 잘 지내고 계시는지요.

아름다운 계절 가을을 맞아 다가오는 10월에 정기 새한 영어영문학회 가을 학술대회를 개최하려고 합니다. 펜데믹 이후 비대면으로 진행되었던 학술대회와 달리, 아직 조심스럽기는 하지만 2022년 가을 학술대회는 대면으로 진행하고자 합니다. (추후 진행 방식의 변경이 있을 수 있습니다.)

'AI를 넘어서: 인공지능과 휴머니티'(Beyond AI: AI & Humanity)

정치, 경제, 사회, 문화 등 각 분야에서 새로운 전환기에 놓여있는 현실에 관한 논의들이 무성합니다. 특히 코로나 사태 이후 급속도로 진화하고 있는 인공지능은 자율주행차나 서빙 로봇, 키오스크, 셰프봇 등의 형태로 인간 노동을 이미 대신하고 있을 뿐만 아니라, AI 시인, AI 화가, AI 작곡가 등 인간 고유 영역으로 간주되어온 창작과 예술 영역까지 우리의 일상을 잠식하고 있습니다. 이에 새한영어영문학회는 “AI와 인간”이라는 키워드를 중심으로, 디지털 전환이 가속화되고 있는 시대의 자본과 노동, 빅데이터와 같은 새로운 형태의 축적, (포스트/트랜스) 휴먼의 조건과 윤리, 플랫폼 자본주의의 바이오 테크놀로지를 포함하여, 사이버교육, 디지털 인문학, 빅데이터, 딥러닝, 머신 러닝, 포스트휴먼 생태학, 트랜스 휴먼, 신경과학, SF 등의 분야와 영어영문학의 접목을 시도하고, 이 주제로 함께 모여 고민하고 토론하는 자리를 마련하고자 합니다. 그 외 자유주제도 가능하오니, 관심 있는 연구자 선생님과 학문후속세대 여러분들의 많은 참여 부탁드립니다.

2. 발표요약문(인쇄용) 마감: 2022년 9월 30일까지 (영어 or 한글): 홈페이지에도 공개됩니다.

3. 발표문: hwp, doc, ppt, pdf 등 다양한 형식 가능: 발표자가 허락하면 공개.

2022 Fall Conference of New Korean Association of English Language and Literature

'Beyond AI: AI & Humanity'

2022 Fall Conference is co-hosted by The New Korean Association of English Language and Literature(NKAEL) and Department of British and American Studies of Dong-A University.

All academic fields from social science to humanities are keen on discussing a new reality that the world is faced with in this transitional era. In particular, artificial intelligence, which has been rapidly developed after the global pandemic, has replaced not only human labor, in the forms of self-driving cars, serving robots, kiosks, and chefbots, but also invaded human-specific domains of art and creativity, in the forms of AI poets, AI painters, and AI composers. Under the keywords “AI and the Human,” New Korean Association of English Language and Literature will hold a conference to speculate on capital and labor, big data, (post-/trans-) human conditions and ethics, and biotechnology of platform capitalism in the digital era. The NKAEL organizing committee invite you to submit proposals on relevant topics, including (but not limited to) cyber education, distance learning, digital humanities, big data, deep learning, machine learning, posthuman ecology, transhuman, neuroscience, science fiction, etc. Presentations on general topics are also possible. Please note that we welcome presentations in any areas of English language and literature.

1. Application due: Sep. 10, 2022(presentation title, name, affiliation, e-mail, and mobile phone number)

2. Paper submission due: Sep. 30, 2022

(1) Two-page Abstract for inclusion in the conference proceedings.

- Paper should include the name of the presenter, affiliation, and presentation title.

(2) Extended paper and a brief CV(or a short bio) for Discussants and Chairs.

- Recommended file formats: Word, PowerPoint, Hancom Office and PDF

- Each presenter will be allocated approximately 15~20 minutes for the presentation. Time for questions and comments from the chair and audience will be given around 10 minutes.

Incentives for presentations at the conference

NKAEL Provision no. 8: The publication fee will be exempted for an article that has been developed from the presentation if it gets published within one year from the Saehan conference. On the first page of the article, the authors have to specify the fact that it is based on their presentation at the Saehan Conference.
